How long does it take yall to outline a chapter in the textbook! I swear, it seems to take me five million years! I tried that new method that mr. r taught us with the questions and I really like it, I mean it's really amazing because it cuts my time down from 10 million years. However, when we were instructed to write the question and then read ONLY untill we find the answer... I always find that I have to read the entire section to get a sense of it and then find the answer! (which turns one section into the next, and the next untill i read the entire chapter---- NOT fun)Any suggestions?

unfortunately no.....it's very slow going....*sighs* I gave up on the questions and just kinda skim through the stuff. I usually go online to wikipedia or something afterwards so I actually know what's important. My outlines are pretty useless

mr robinson also said that we dont really have to know specifics when we outline, just general stuff, cuz we do that specifics in class.

Its easy. I usually make really easy questions or questions I know the answer to. Like for example if the section is "The continental army." I'll write "What is the continental army." And then when I get to something remotely resembling telling me what it is, I'd write it was the American army or w/e. And if I had to keep reading, I'd just stop and write answer.

My only real problem with the outlining is that it makes my eyes bleed, my ears ring, and my nose run.
Not really, it just feels like it will. I haven't started outlining again (bad of me, I know.) but I plan to start tomorrow, and I'm going to set a page limit on my outlines (4 pages max.) and do it as sparsely as I feel necessary. I also set time limits for myself, like "I'll get done with this section by 4:15". A lot of the time I don't make my deadlines, but it feels really good when you do. Another thing I do is I only outline for about an hour and a half to two hours at a time. Then I get up, walk around, get something to eat, just do something that isn't APUS for maybe 15-20 minutes, and then I'm fresh and ready to outline more.

You all work too hard. Use a review book to get a general idea of what is going on prior to opening the textbook. That way the material is somewhat familiar PRIOR to your outlining. In a perfect world, nothing I say in lecture should be new new, just mildly more interesting than the "make your eyes bleed" textbook.

Yea, well... we don't live in a perfect world......... so we must spend lots and lots of time outlining. actually i love outlining, cause its just like the most satisfying thing to do to sit down with that "ready or not outlines, here i come look, and then read it like a storybook. Essentially thats all it is, just with really boring boring boring boring boring broing words.
I do symapize with the eye bleeders though, even though i see it as a mental thing. Every 45 min or so i gotta read a chapter of Winnie the Pooh to balance myself.

If we lived in a perfect world, you'd be able to just see we were good students and will get a 5 on the exam, and just give it to us and not bother with the course.

no need to get huffy. I wasn't being self-righteous, but I'm a moderator and I told you guys to stop. You didn't, so the Admin had to come in. I have been involved in posting wars before, and they never amount to anything so I attempted to end this before it got out of hand.

review books are beautiful, not that they're any incentive for me to outline but they make learning stuff easier.

yo man why am i so poor.
actually outlining is really fun, cause all i do is pick aside (cause there are always multiple sides) and run with it, i get all emotionally involved, and it makes outlining sooo much easier. I just sit there reading about how ___ did ___ and how it affecting my friends _____ and _____. its hot
mad hot
btw... hot = 1/balls
which means hot is the opposite of balls.

btw, 1/balls is not the opposite of balls, it is the reciprocal of balls. the opposite of balls is -balls, or hot. ~
